Gorgeous Stone Colonial in Pinehurst

Located in Baltimore County, north of Gittings Avenue and south of Rodgers Forge, Pinehurst is a picturesque neighborhood of beautiful homes and tree-lined sidewalks. Picture Homeland on a more intimate scale, with the benefit of County schools and taxes. Many of the streets are one-way, keeping the traffic pace slow and to a minimum.

This beautiful 6BR, 4.5BA colonial located 6306 Blenheim Road is one of the premier homes in this lovely neighborhood. I’ve admired its grand stone exterior with two side porches and arched doorway on many a walk, and was delighted when the Whit Harvey Group listed it for sale, and I was finally able to see how the interior compared with the exterior. It doesn’t disappoint.

Built in 1928, the house has all of the things we’ve come to love in an old house – hardwood floors, beautiful moldings on top of rock-solid construction. The first floor features dentil molding throughout, picture molding around the windows, and wainscoting in the hallways, stairway and dining room.

The oversized front door opens into a spacious foyer with gleaming hardwood floors and open staircase with monkey-tail bannister. I can easily imagine hanging out in front of the fireplace in the sun-filled living room – there’s plenty of space as it runs from front to back of the house. Two sets of French doors lead to the screened porch, which also runs the depth of the house, with enough room for dining and living areas. I know where I’d be spending my summers! Or maybe it would be out on the extensive patio. With the stone walls as a background and level lawn, there is very much the feel of a secret garden.

I’m a big fan of the arched stone doorway that provides easy access from the driveway to kitchen. There is an unexpected surprise of a tiled mosaic on the floor, and a small built in wooden bench.

Flanking the house on the left is an impressive sunroom that opens from the dining room through a set of French doors with sidelights. Windows on three sides provide plenty of light, and again, I really like the stone walls featured in this home.

I’ve talked about what we like in an older home, and this one has all that and more, but it also has extensive updates that we need. Hosting large family dinners is easy in the oversized dining room, and the kitchen has everything I want – cherry cabinets, granite countertops and stainless steel double sink, and appliances. The sub-zero refrigerator has a built-in look with cherry panels, and the breakfast bar easily seats three.

The lower level has been fully renovated into a family room with exercise area and wet bar, full bath and sixth bedroom and full bath. System upgrades include a new high efficiency hot water heater, and HVAC system with multiple zones to keep you comfortable no matter what the weather.

Four spacious bedrooms and two full baths on the second level include the master with tiled bath and built in storage. The third level has yet another bedroom and full bath featuring unique “eyebrow dormers”.
